Electrician Spec Sheet

Multimeter and tools on a tanning equipment repair bench

Type what the bed's plate says. The tool works out the continuous load, the breaker size, a wire gauge range for a short run, and the receptacle style, then gives you a sheet to print or save and hand to your electrician before the bed arrives. It is the paper that stops a bed from sitting in the garage for three weeks.

Before you buy the bed. The most common delay we see is a bed waiting on a circuit. Hand this sheet to an electrician the week you order, not the week it arrives. Background: tanning bed electrical requirements.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I find the voltage and amps for my tanning bed?

On the data plate, usually on the base frame near the power cord, inside the base, or on the rear edge of the canopy. It lists volts, amps or watts, and frequency. If it only lists watts, the tool converts to amps for you.

Why is the breaker bigger than the amps on the plate?

A tanning bed runs for long sessions, so electricians size the circuit for continuous load, which in US practice means the breaker and wire carry at least 125 percent of the plate amps. The sheet shows that math so your electrician can check it.

Is this a substitute for an electrician?

No. It is the sheet you hand one. Local code, panel capacity, run length and conductor type are the electrician's call, and the sheet says so at the bottom. For a panel check before you buy a bed, call us or book a video session.
