KBL Tanning Bed Parts by Request

Open tanning bed canopy raised on its gas springs

KBL is a German manufacturer of commercial tanning beds sold under the megaSun name. The company has built sunbeds at its headquarters in Dernbach, Germany since the early 1990s and is known for high-end lay-down beds and stand-up units with a lot of built-in technology. KBL beds are less common in Michigan than the domestic brands, but the salons that run them tend to run several, and they expect them to perform. Sun Systems & Service services KBL and megaSun equipment and sources parts for it by request, including for older and discontinued models. Installed in Michigan, shipped nationwide after a video session.

On a KBL bed, send three photos: the type plate, the display with any error message, and the lamp end label. Those three let us confirm most parts without a second round of questions.

What KBL beds are known for

Engineering and features. megaSun beds commonly combine body lamps with high pressure facial lamps behind filter glass, electronic ballasts, climate and body cooling fans, audio, and a control panel with diagnostics. Electrical requirements are a dedicated 220 volt circuit sized to the model. Like other European commercial beds, the parts are specified tightly to the model: acrylics formed to the exact shape, model-specific ballasts and boards, and a heavy canopy on matched gas springs. The body lamps and facial lamps follow standard classes that we confirm against the bed's requirement rather than assume.

We service and source parts for KBL beds

Current megaSun models and the older ones still in service. Relamps with matched body and facial lamps, filter glass, electronic ballasts, gas springs, acrylics, fans and the control electronics. Parts for European beds take longer to arrive than domestic parts, so we confirm the part against the plate and the symptom before anything is ordered and we tell you the lead time up front. If a board or panel for a discontinued model cannot be had, you hear that first.

Finding the model and serial plate

KBL beds carry a type plate with the model, serial number, voltage, frequency and power rating. On lay-down beds, check the end of the base or the base frame below the bench acrylic. On stand-up units, look inside the entry or low on the rear panel. The control display often shows the model at power-up as well. Photograph the plate and any error message and send both with your request.

Common KBL part requests

  • Lamps. Full relamps as a matched set, with the code confirmed against the bed's own requirement rather than against the model name.
  • Acrylics. Bench and canopy sheets, matched to the model and production year, since dimensions changed across years on many lines.
  • Gas springs. Canopy shocks matched by length, force and fitting. Replaced in pairs.
  • Ballasts. Magnetic and electronic, matched to the lamp class and voltage.
  • Starters. Sized to the lamp wattage, included with every relamp.
  • Timers. In-bed timers, remote timers and control boards.
  • Fans and cooling parts and electrical parts such as contactors, lamp holders and cords.

Michigan and nationwide

In Michigan we come to the salon or the home, install the part and test the bed at full output. We have served hundreds of Michigan salons since 1990 and we are open 7 days, 9 to 6. Outside Michigan, book a virtual repair session: Stan looks at the bed on your phone, names the part, we ship it, and he walks you through the install on a follow-up call. Buying a used bed of this brand? A video inspection before you pay tells you what it will need.

Request a KBL part

Send the model, the part and your city. Stan confirms the part against the bed and quotes it, usually the same day.

A clear photo of the model plate and of the part itself saves a round of questions. Reply to the confirmation email with both.

Frequently asked questions

Do you service KBL megaSun tanning beds?

Yes. We service KBL lay-down beds and stand-up units in Michigan, including relamps with body and facial lamps, electronic ballasts, acrylics, gas springs, fans and control electronics. Outside Michigan we work by video session and ship the parts.

How long do KBL parts take to get?

Longer than domestic parts in many cases, since some come from Europe. Standard lamps and gas springs are usually quick. Model-specific boards, ballasts and acrylics take longer. We confirm the part against your plate and tell you the lead time before anything is ordered.

Can you get parts for an older KBL model?

Often, yes. Lamps, starters where used, gas springs and many electrical parts are available for older megaSun beds. Boards, panels and acrylics depend on the model and year. We check availability first and tell you plainly if a part cannot be had.
