Wolff Tanning Bed Parts by Request

UV tubes glowing behind a protective wire grille

Wolff is the oldest name in American indoor tanning. The Wolff brothers began selling sunbeds and tanning lamps in Germany in the mid 1970s, and Friedrich Wolff brought the equipment to the United States in 1978. Over the decades the company moved toward lamp technology and licensed the Wolff name to bed builders, which is why "Wolff tanning bed" today can mean a bed built by Wolff System, or a bed from another maker that ships with Wolff lamps and carries the Wolff name on the canopy. Sun Systems & Service has worked on both kinds since 1990. We source parts for Wolff beds by request, including models that have been out of production for 20 years or more. Installed in Michigan, shipped nationwide after a video session.

First thing we ask on a Wolff bed: who actually built it. The Wolff name on the canopy is a start. The model plate tells us the manufacturer, and that is what decides which acrylic, which shock and which ballast fits.

What Wolff beds are known for

Wolff lamps are the common thread. They are widely used across residential and commercial beds from several manufacturers, and a lot of salon owners describe their bed by its lamps rather than its maker. The beds that carry the Wolff name tend to be straightforward lay-down units with magnetic ballasts, standard T12 lamps and conventional acrylics, which is good news for parts. Most of what wears out is a standard component. The parts that are model-specific, mainly acrylics and some timers, depend on who built the bed and when.

We service and source parts for Wolff beds

Every Wolff System bed and every Wolff-badged bed we have met, from the units sold in the 1980s and 1990s to the current residential lines. Older and discontinued models are a normal part of the week for us. If the manufacturer is gone, we work from the plate, the lamp code and measurements, and we tell you straight if a part cannot be had.

Finding the model and serial plate

Because Wolff beds come from more than one builder, the plate location varies. Check the end cap of the base, the inside wall of the base near the lamp ends after lifting the bench acrylic, and the rear edge of the canopy. The plate lists the manufacturer, model, serial number, voltage and amps. If you find a plate that names a different company than Wolff, that is normal and that is the name we need. have a photo ready of it with your request.

Common Wolff part requests

  • Lamps. Full relamps as a matched set, with the code confirmed against the bed's own requirement rather than against the model name.
  • Acrylics. Bench and canopy sheets, matched to the model and production year, since dimensions changed across years on many lines.
  • Gas springs. Canopy shocks matched by length, force and fitting. Replaced in pairs.
  • Ballasts. Magnetic and electronic, matched to the lamp class and voltage.
  • Starters. Sized to the lamp wattage, included with every relamp.
  • Timers. In-bed timers, remote timers and control boards.
  • Fans and cooling parts and electrical parts such as contactors, lamp holders and cords.

Michigan and nationwide

In Michigan we come to the salon or the home, install the part and test the bed at full output. We have served hundreds of Michigan salons since 1990 and we are open 7 days, 9 to 6. Outside Michigan, book a virtual repair session: Stan looks at the bed on your phone, names the part, we ship it, and he walks you through the install on a follow-up call. Buying a used bed of this brand? A video inspection before you pay tells you what it will need.

Frequently asked questions

Is a Wolff tanning bed made by Wolff?

Not always. Wolff System builds and has built beds, and it also licenses its name and supplies lamps to other manufacturers. Many beds marketed as Wolff beds were built by another company around Wolff lamps. The model plate tells you the actual manufacturer, and that is what we need to match parts.

Can you get parts for an old Wolff tanning bed?

Usually, yes. Lamps, starters, ballasts, gas springs and most electrical parts on older Wolff beds are standard components. Acrylics and timers depend on the builder and the year, and we match those from the plate and measurements. If a part truly cannot be had, we tell you before you spend anything.

Do I have to use Wolff lamps in a Wolff bed?

You need lamps that match the bed's required code: size, wattage class and end type. Wolff makes lamps that do, and so do other makers. We confirm the code against your bed and quote the set. The bed does not care about the brand name on the tube. It cares about the rating.
